Depression in teens is not uncommon, infact, about 20 percent of teens will experience some form of depression in their adolescence. But, is it possible to be depressed by a book series? A rising number of stories of teen boys and girls feeling depressed, hopeless, and even experiencing suicidal thoughts have been noted by devoted fans of the Twilight saga, a story of vampires, warewolves, and lust.
A 14 year old Twilight fan blogged, "After reading Twilight it feels like my life is missing something and I never realized it before- true love. I'm only 14 so I know there's plenty of time for me to find love but I know it won't even compare to the love Edward and Bella have." Another fan suggested she seek out counceling for her worsening depression.
Teens who haven't read the books are watching the movies. Twilight, the first movie and New Moon, the second one have both broken records in total gross earnings. Eclipse, the third movie comes out in theatures June 30, 2010, which raises the question: How far will this go?
Whether or not this is just a phase, Twilight has a huge impact on many teens' lives.
